Bringing You the Latest Buzz from Grace Fellowship

Pastor's Pen
From the desk of
Pastor Paul
As we prepare for Dave and Chris Richards’ visit from England for Equip, October 3–5, begin asking the Lord to prepare your heart and show you how He wants to equip you for greater effectiveness!
Sometime ago I read: “If you spend your life trying to be good at everything, you will never be great at anything. While our society encourages us to be well-rounded, this approach inadvertently breeds mediocrity. Perhaps the greatest misconception of all is that of the well-rounded leader,” from Strengths Based Leadership. One of the things that happens to us spiritually is that we tend to focus on weaknesses; instead of strength, in doing so our confidence erodes.
In the area of talents and gifts none of us are good at everything. That is why we need the whole Body of Christ and why we need each other. Romans 12:6-8 says, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
So instead of trying to be well-rounded and good at everything, it is best to find out what our gifts and strengths are and maximize those.
Can’t wait to see you this weekend.
