PASTOR'S PEN

From the desk of Pastor Paul

I have a sense that many individuals are facing spiritual battles. You should always expect that when God is being glorified and working for good, spiritual battles will arise. Some are battling difficult people in their workplaces (be reminded of Ephesians 6:12). Some are battling discouragement (be reminded of Joshua 1:9). Some are feeling overwhelmed from fighting in their own strength and in isolation (be reminded of Hebrews 10:25). Some are battling illness and suffering (be reminded of Psalm 94:18–19).

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in 2 Chronicles 20. King Jehoshaphat was greatly outnumbered by the enemy and was overwhelmed with fear, but a young prophet named Jahaziel stepped forward and said, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15). Some of you are fighting battles that are not yours to fight, because the battle belongs to the Lord. Jahaziel went on to say, “Stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you” (2 Chronicles 20:17).

When you are in a battle, admit your powerlessness: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (2 Chronicles 20:12). In the midst of battle, it is vital to take your eyes off yourself and fix them on the Lord. Second Chronicles 20:22 says that as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies.

So today, confess that the battle is not yours, but God’s, and watch for the deliverance He will bring. Jesus invited Peter to come to Him in the midst of the storm. Some of the greatest victories are found just on the other side of conflict.

See you this weekend.

WHAT'S HAPPENING!

Note regarding Baby or Child Dedication.

Child or baby dedication at Grace Fellowship is different from infant or child baptism. While it is for the child or children, it is especially for the parent(s). It is a joyful acknowledgment that, as a parent(s), we have been entrusted by God with this child or these children. In this moment, we invite the prayers of our church family, asking for their covering, wisdom, and strength as we seek to faithfully love, lead, and raise this child or these children in the ways of the Lord.

Penny Laird and Marietta Wright have collaborated on a new book titled The Gift.

In this small but powerful book, Penny writes from the Father’s heart about what it cost to send the gift of Jesus, while Marietta beautifully illustrates the story.

This book is also especially effective for children. Pick up your copy on Amazon today.

Not Built on Ambition, But on Assignment

We’re not building this building out of ambition, but out of assignment. We believe God has called us to something bigger than ourselves, something that will impact lives far beyond this generation. Because of that, we’re not relying on our own strength or ideas. We’re saying “yes” to what He has asked of us and trusting that He will provide every step of the way.

There is still much ahead. We have resources to raise, prayers to pray, and people to bring along with us. But when something is truly from God, it comes with His authority. We’re not asking Him to bless our plan, we’re aligning ourselves with His.

As you watch this message, we invite you to lean in, pray with us, and ask how God is calling you to be part of what He is building here at Grace.
