Jesus said, you are the light of the world a town built on a hill cannot be hidden, neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house, (Matthew 5:14-15)

Notice He didn’t say we are the light of the church. He said we are the light of the world.

Where does the light come from? Remember Moses, the light came from being in the Presence! While the radiance (light) faded from Moses. Let me paraphrase 2 Corinthians 3:18 which says, when the veil is taken away, we will reflect the Lord’s glory with increasing measure. I would like to suggest the light and how brightly it shines is a result of being in the Presence of God and in close relationship with Him.

We think that letting our light shine is all about sharing our faith and yes there is some truth in that, it is also all we have been taught.

I would like to suggest that a light on the hill means activating our spiritual eyes. Because what does the light do? It helps us see! It illumines and reveals what is right in front of us! So, when you truly let your light shine, it will be a revelation of your next steps and the needs all around you!
