Grace Happenings | September 7, 2022

Pastors Pen

You hear me say somewhat often “God has visited your future and is preparing you now for what is to come.” I want to elaborate on that a little more:

We learn from the disciplines of walking in the Spirit through every circumstance, good or bad, that comes into our lives. What if every circumstance was primarily about us discovering Who God wanted to be for us?  When we understand that instead of cursing negative circumstances we could step into that adversity with gladness and thanksgiving.

For example, if I understood this principle then in every conflict, I could start to see that something missing in me that that abrasive person might add to my life and that there is perhaps something missing in them that I could add to their life. When I look at things from that kind of perspective it can change dread into discovery in every relationship and circumstance.

In seasons when God seems quiet or far off instead of jumping to the conclusion that God is displeased with me and distant, I must understand that He is simply teaching me to walk by faith not by my feelings. When God shows up in a mighty way it is always a blessing, but when He feels hidden it is a time of building. Graham Cooke says, “Hiddenness is one of the most exciting disciplines that we can learn in the realm of the Spirit.” It is a time when He is building in us greater trust and restoring our souls.

Do not squander your circumstances look at what God is preparing to do and preparing you for.

Can’t wait to see you this weekend.
