Pastor’s Pen
In these uncertain times, I have heard individuals say, “I am not sure how to pray?” God wants to help us pray strategically and in agreement with others in the Body of Christ. He wants us to pray more than, “Help, help, help!” or “God get me outta here” prayers.
Scott Berglund mentioned, a couple of weeks ago, when he taught how our hearts start beating in rhythm with others when we worship and pray. One of the important ways to pray in sync is to pray and declare Scripture. Scripture not only helps us to know what to pray but when we do it together (even at different times) all over our city there is a spiritual syncing that happens.
I have recently been feeling led to pray some of the prayers recorded in the book of Daniel. For example Daniel 2:20-23:
“Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him. I thank and praise You, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, You have made known to me what we asked of You, You have made known to us the dream of the king.”
So how do we make a Scripture like that a personal prayer? Easy just change some pronouns, for example:
“Praise be to Your name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are Yours. You changes times and seasons; You deposes kings and raise up others. You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. You reveals deep and hidden things; You knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with You. I thank and praise You, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, You have made known to me what we asked of You, You have made known to us the demands of kings.”
[help us to know how to navigate those demands].
