Grace Happenings | September 1, 2021

Pastor’s Pen

I am sure you have been noticing the change in the air. The morning crispness and the smell of the air (not the smoke) is announcing the changing of seasons. Autumn is upon us.  Changing of seasons is often more than calendar and weather patterns. Daniel 2:21 said, And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise. And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Properly understanding what season we are in is important. David was in a changing season in 2 Samuel 11. It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle. David was vulnerable in the changing seasons of his life. We must not be on a cruise ship when we are supposed to be on a battleship, and David missed that memo.

I sense a need to guard our hearts during changing of seasons. Here are some things we may want to talk to God about for the next steps on our journey:

  1. Are there changes to my thinking You want to make in the coming season?

  2. What steps can I take to walk in step with the Body of Christ during this season?

  3. Lord help me not pick up any offense in this coming season and let go of any offenses from the last season.

  4. Are there seeds in the barn of my life that should be planted that may yield a spring crop? (See Haggai 2:19).

My prayer is that this coming season will be our best ever as a church and in your lives individually!

Scott Berglund will be sharing the Word this coming weekend! Yeah, God! It is always fun to hear Scott share.

Property Progress

Last week the City of Buffalo Planning Commission heard the application for our Special Use Permit (to be able to use the property for a future church building).  While the Planning Commission did not grant the permit last week- each member of the commission voiced being in favor of it. Because the 5.5 acres Grace Fellowship proposes to buy is a part of a much larger property (including a housing subdivision to the north), the final approval from the city of Buffalo is expected at the next meeting on September 28. God is at work and this is another huge step and open door in God’s blessing toward our purchasing the property.

The property soil testing is also underway and if that is favorable (as our engineers expect), our estimated closing date for the purchase of the property is October 15.

Let’s join together in unity and in prayer for God’s purposes to be accomplished through us. These are really exciting days and we continue stepping into where He is leading us.

Meeting Place: Grace Fellowship

One of the best hikes around, takes you to both Sherd Lake and Long Lake,  in the Big Horn Wilderness Area, and it’s a pretty underrated trek.  It starts at the Circle Park Trailhead approximately 15 miles from Buffalo.  Trail #46 starts out wide and rocky with an elevation gain of 550 feet in 1.8 miles to Sherd Lake.  We will take a short break at this beautiful lake and then continue on Trail #47 to Long Lake.  Long Lake is 1.2 miles from Sherd Lake with an elevation gain of 320 feet.  It is an amazing hike with stream crossings, old-growth forests, and stunning views.  We will be having late lunch at Long Lake.  This is a  BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH.

The entire trip is 6 miles and we will be meeting right after church on Sunday.  We will leave at approximately 11:30 from the church and should arrive back at the church between 6 and 7 in the evening.  Come and spend time in the Big Horn Mountains developing and deepening your relationships with your Christian Brothers and Sisters.
