Pastors Pen
What a beautiful morning, so still, so green, so beautifully crisp. This is such a wonderful time of year, a time of new beginnings. I can’t help but think of the amazing graduating class that will walk across the stage and gets their diplomas. In a very real sense, an important part of the church is getting their diplomas this week. These graduates function at a very high level in the Body of Christ at Grace, believing God, doing missions work, praying for others, and holding their own along with the rest of us. Awesome parents, a strong youth group, a village of encouragers have all contributed to the fact that these students are legitimately powerful in the Body of Christ. So we will shed a tear and send up a cheer for a job well done!
That being said, it would be very disappointing if they took the diploma with an “I have arrived attitude.” There are more experiences to come and more work, more growth in the days ahead. We would say to the students, don’t be content with where you are.
Which brings each of us to look at ourselves. For most, it has been longer than we care to remember since we walked across that stage and picked up the paper, but no matter our stage of life, there is so much more for us to learn, gain, experience and by faith take hold of. Don’t be content with where you are spiritually. Don’t assume that the level of revelation you have right now or the experiences you’ve had with God are the norm. There’s more. There’s always more. Ask for it—persistently—and seek it with all your heart. Keep walking across the stage of growth and graduation.
Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Excited to be continuing to grow with you this weekend
