Grace Happenings | July 28, 2021

Pastor’s Pen

A few weeks ago I said, “Fear often masquerades as wisdom.” I have still been noodling that a little bit. I think there is a distinct difference between feeling fear and fear. For example, if I am afraid of flying, I am not feeling fear when I refuse to step on a plane. I do not feel the emotion of fear because I have reduced the activity of my life to accommodate my fear.

Instead of asking the Lord to deliver us from fear (see Psalm 34:4) we often just reduce our lives down to what does not require faith as a means of managing the fear.

Very often we do not even identify what we are feeling as fear. Usually, when I am resistant to change in my life, it is not that I am opposed to the change, it is I am fearful of the unknown and fear I might not be able to handle the change.

Fear is not your friend! Fear will keep you from purpose and destiny.

I love the buzz of faith I sense when we meet together, excited to see you this weekend.

Congregational Vote

Grace Fellowship is under contract to purchase 5.5 acres on the corner of Main Street/By-Pass (Just one block north of the High School on the opposite side of the street) and Cemetery Road. The terms of the purchase are a cash offer of $300,000 with a closing date on or before October 15, 2021. There is currently $303,162 in our Building Fund to make this purchase.

Here are the contingencies to be met before moving ahead:

  1. Majority vote  (3/4 of the members voting) of Grace Fellowship membership.

  2. Engineering geo soil testing to determine buildability of the property.

  3. Conditional Use Permit granted to Grace Fellowship by the City of Buffalo, Wyoming.

  4. Successful easement granted for access off of Cemetery Road.

The Feasibility Team of Rob Schlicting, Casey Friese, Randy Longnecker, Anna Buckingham, Skip Crawford, and Cristy Kinghorn recommended this property to the Elders who are in turn bringing it to the Grace Fellowship family. This is a unanimous recommendation.

July 24-August 2 are the dates set for the Grace Fellowship family to express themselves on this matter by a ballot vote. Members, as well as regular attenders, are encouraged to vote – (There will be a table set up where you can receive a ballot to express your vote).

Should you have questions, either the Feasibility Team or the Elder Board stand ready to answer them.
