Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The city didn’t have a clue! The whole nation didn’t have a clue! The innkeeper at the Holiday Inn Express didn’t have a clue! They had an opportunity right in front of their noses. They could have been present as Kingdom Royalty was born, but they were too preoccupied with “stuff”.
It’s so easy to miss it, to blow it. Late one Christmas Day, a resident of the community of Hillsborough, California, accompanied by his wife and kids set out to sing carols for the neighbors. As they were tuning up outside their first stop the lady of the house came to the door, looking distraught. “Look fella,” she said, “I’m just too busy. The plumbing is on the blink, and there’s a mob coming for dinner. If you really feel like singing carols, sing them someplace else.”
“Yes, ma’am,” replied Bing Crosby (original singer of White Christmas) respectfully, as he and his family moved elsewhere.
This Christmas, let’s not miss any opportunity or promise of God by being too distracted. The Christmas season is a great time for God to work and move in our lives and the lives of others.
