Pastor’s Pen

When we become advocates of a creed, something dies;

We do not believe God, we only believe our belief about Him.

Oswald Chambers

I have been meditating on this quote from Oswald Chambers.  Chambers wrote “My Utmost for His Highest”, which was the go-to daily devotional before “Jesus is Calling” became so popular.  I would like to encourage you to take this quote and chew on it and ask the Lord about it.  When Chambers is talking about a creed, he is talking about that which is religious.  I want to dig deep into my own heart, because I want to believe God for Who He says He is.  It is really easy to get so entrenched in what we have been taught to believe that we miss God and what He wants to do in and around us!  I don’t want to make that mistake. I want regularly to hear a fresh word from God and read His Word new and fresh.

Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give you a Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

Can’t wait to see you this weekend at the Tent of Meeting!

This weekend– Bring a towel to church– you never know when you’ll need it.
