Pastor's Pen
From the desk of
Pastor Paul
When Jesus healed the man at the Pool of Bethesda, the Pharisees reacted with criticism and skepticism. In response, Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”
What I love about this verse is the principle it reveals: everything Jesus did was in response with the Father’s will, not in reaction to opposition or the schemes of the devil. His actions were always intentional, purposeful, and rooted in the heart of God.
This truth teaches us something vital for our own spiritual lives. A renewed mind keeps its focus on the Father, discerning His guidance and direction. It recognizes that God does not intend for us to passively wait for Him to do everything on our behalf. Rather, there are opportunities where He desires to work through us, using our hands, hearts, and voices to carry out His will in the world. When our lives are guided by this principle, our actions become extensions of God’s purpose, flowing from intimacy with Him rather than reaction to circumstances.
